In another rejection, of sorts, the a city advisory board has denied a developer’s plans to build a new senior living property in Riverside. The District 6 Advisory Board turned back the request to use tax credits to help finance the development near 13th and Bitting Street. That’s right across from North High School. The state of Kansas requires local approval when considering low-income housing tax credits. Local residents packed the district advisory board meeting to complain about the traffic congestion the development would bring. The advisory board decision is only a recommendation. The full city council will have the final say next week.
