Johnson; Kinard Advance In District 1

The top two vote getters in yesterday’s primary election for Wichita city council will advance to the general election in November. They are Brandon Johnson and Mike Kinard. Although Johnson took a complete majority of the voites, with 52 percent. Kinard brought in about 22 percent of the votes. The other two candidates, Janet Stevens and John Wilson, are eliminated. The city council First precinct represents north and northeast Wichita. The seat is currently held by Lavonta WIlliams, who cannot run again because of term limits.
